The TOUR Championship is the final event of the PGA Tour‘s FedExCup Playoffs, typically held in late August at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. This event determines the FedExCup champion, who is awarded a significant bonus. The format of the tournament includes a unique “starting strokes” system based on the players’ standings in the FedExCup points race. The leader in points starts with a score advantage, and the rest of the field is staggered accordingly.
The TOUR Championship features the top 30 players in the FedExCup standings, making it one of professional golf’s most prestigious and competitive events. The winner of the TOUR Championship is crowned both the tournament champion and the overall FedExCup champion, earning a substantial financial reward and significant recognition in the sport.
TOUR Championship Finishing Position Values
Scottie Scheffler To Win (+110, BetMGM)
Every single tournament that Scheffler is a part of, he is always the favorite, and there is very little reason why he shouldn’t be considering how dominant he has been this season. He has six wins and 15 top-10 finishes, which is far and away the best on tour. He’s the No. 1 ranked golfer in the world and shows it week in and week out. He’s ranked first in total strokes gained, and first in strokes gained on his approach to the green. He’s also third off the tee, and his biggest weakness by far is putting, where he ranks 87th on tour. It hasn’t always been his strong suit, but he has gotten better, and there is simply no one else who could be the favorite to win the championship.

Rory McIlroy Top 5 Finish (+163, BetRivers)
Rory McIlroy hasn’t been spectacular as of late, but overall this season, he has had plenty of success. He’s collected two wins this season with 6 top-10 finishes and is still the No. 3 ranked golfer in the world. Taking a look at some of his advanced stats, it is quite easy to see why he has had so much success. He’s ranked fourth in total strokes gained, mostly due to being so good off the tee, where he also ranks fourth. He’s a pretty decent 42nd on his approach, and 65th in putting, grading him in the top half of the TOUR in every category. Ever since that incredibly disheartening loss to Bryson DeChambeau at the U.S. Open, he’s had somewhat of a rough go of things. He did finish 11th last week at the BMW, so he has a bit of momentum.

Viktor Hovland Top 10 Finish (+160, Fanatics)
Victor Hovland won the TOUR Championship last season, and while he hasn’t had his best season in 2024, he has always had the talent and the skill to be one of the very best golfers on the planet. He’s ranked 7th in the world but has not been able to get a single victory this season. He has two top-10 finishes, but overall, this has not been the season he has hoped. Still, at just 26 years old, he has a very bright future, and adding another TOUR Championship would solidify him at the top. He’s 33rd in total strokes gained, which is still quite good, but not anywhere near a top-10 golfer level. He’s been best off the tee, where he ranks 11th, and is also 21st in his approach to the green. He’s 56th in putting, so just like Rory, he is in the top half of the TOUR in every major SG category.
