We are getting into the meat of the college football conference play and 5 Bets is all over it with two picks this week. One a Big 12 battle and the other a Pac-12 contest.
Two selections on NFL games are also available. The first is a match up with two of the worst teams in the league. The other is a bet on the total of two teams have strong records on the Under.
The final bet is on the PGA Tour. They are in Mexico to play the World Wide Technology and one golfer has had success there and should be in the mix again.
5 Bets to Make this Week
- Oregon State Beavers +4 over Washington Huskies
- TCU Horned Frogs -9.5 over Texas Tech Red Raiders
- Las Vegas Raiders -1.5 over Jacksonville Jaguars
- LA Rams-Tampa Bay Buccaneers Under 42.5
- Brendon Todd Top 10 Finish +300
The No. 24 Oregon State Beavers have been a boon to spread betters this season, going 6-2 against the spread. Now they travel to Seattle to face the Washington Huskies.
Last year OSU broke a string of nine straight losses to the Huskies and will try to make it two in a row. If the Beavers are going to win this game they are going to have to stop Washington’s passing attack. Michael Penix Jr. is leading all quarterbacks with 2,934 yards passing and Washington is No. 1 in passing, averaging 379.3 yards per game.
The Beavers are 67th in passing yards allowed, averaging 230.6 per game. Washington is 100th defending the pass, allowing an average of 256.6 yards per game.
I like Oregon State to escape with a victory, thus covering the spread.
Prediction: Oregon State +4 over Washington (-110 at BetMGM)

TCU Rolls Texas Tech
Another darling of the spread betters is the TCU Horned Frogs. They have gone 6-1-1 and are looking to knock off another Big 12 opponent, the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
The line opened at 7.5 points and moved to 9.5. I still think that is a coverable number, especially for the No. 7 Horned Frogs. TCU is undefeated at 8-0 and still has a chance to get into the playoffs.
They aren’t letting Texas Tech stand in their way. The Red Raiders were a favorite to Baylor at home and lost outright, 45-17. If the Baylor Bears can hang 45 points on them, TCU should be able to do the same.
Prediction: Oregon State +4 over Washington (-108 at BetRivers)

Raiders – Jags Battle for Worst NFL Team
It is hard to trust the Las Vegas Raiders after they put up such a lame performance last week against the New Orleans Saints. They were a slight favorite, just like they are this week with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and lost 24-0.
The Jaguars have lost five straight games and the Raiders have lost all four of the road games this season. The Raiders are 2-5 and the Jaguars are 2-6. Neither team has a good record ATS. The Raiders are 3-4 ATS and the Jaguars are 2-6.
Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has been ineffective and underwhelming this season. Coach Josh McDaniels is on the hot seat. This team isn’t making the playoffs but they are trying to save jobs.
Jacksonville was supposed to be bad so they have no expectations. Look for the Raiders to win this contest but it won’t be pretty.
Prediction: Raiders -1.5 over Jaguars (-108 at Unibet)

Rams, Bucs Go Low
Two teams that were thought to be a lock for the playoffs find themselves anything but. The Los Angeles Rams are 3-4, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 3-5.
Tampa Bay QB Tom Brady is having problems on and off the field. The Buccaneers are 21st in total offense, averaging 332.9 yards a game. The Rams are even worse, checking in at 30th with an average of 297.4 per game.
With sputtering offenses, I like the Under in this game. The Rams are 5-2 on the Under this season. Tampa Bay is 6-2 on the Under. The total is set at 42.5 and I believe they won’t get anywhere near it.
Prediction: Rams-Bucs Under 42.5 (-108 at Caesars)

Todd Continues Success at Mayakoba
The stars are starting to slowly return to PGA Tour events, with names like Viktor Hovland and Tony Finau playing in this week’s World Wide Technology.
Brendon Todd isn’t a star, but he is at least recognizable and he’s very familiar with this event. Todd won it in 2019 and has posted a T8 and T11 the last two years. In his last 12 rounds at El Camaleon his scoring average is 66.92.
In addition, he already has two Top 10 finishes in four events and hasn’t missed a cut. I don’t think he’ll win, but I do think he’ll be near the top of the leaderboard. A top 10 finish is definitely a possibility.
Prediction: Brendon Todd Top 10 finish (+300 at BetMGM)
