5 Bets to Make this Week

It’s hard to believe it’s the last regular season this weekend for the NFL. It’s also the last college football game. In the spirit of the pigskin, we’ll take a look at the CFP Championship game.

The Georgia Bulldogs and TCU Horned Frogs couldn’t be two different teams. The Bulldogs were No. 1 most of the year, while the Horned Frogs began the year +200 to win the championship. We have thoughts on who we think we’ll win.

In the NFL, there are plenty of games with playoff implications. We take a look at four of them and guide bettors to what wagers that look the most promising.

5 Bets to Make this Week

  • Georgia Bulldogs -12 over TCU Horned Frogs
  • Buffalo Bills -7.5 over New England Patriots
  • Miami Dolphins -1 over New York Jets
  • New York Giants +14 over Philadelphia Eagles
  • San Francisco 49ers -14 over Arizona Cardinals

Dream Ends in LA for TCU

The TCU Horned Frogs are absolutely one of the best stories in college football, if not all of sports this year. Now they have a chance to pull off a Hoosiers-type upset over No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs.

But just like so many who come to Southern California to fulfill their dreams on the big or small screen, TCU’s Cinderella story comes to an end on Monday.

Their performance over the Michigan Wolverines was an upset for the ages and if they were able to get past Georgia their preseason odds of +200 to win the National Championship would make some futures bettors very happy.

Georgia, who narrowly got past the Ohio State Buckeyes won’t make that same mistake against the Horned Frogs. They should dominate this game from the start and cruise to their second consecutive National Championship.

Prediction: Georgia -12 over TCU (-112 at BetRivers)

Buffalo Takes Emotion to Victory

It was tough watching some of the Buffalo Bills players on Monday night openly weeping as their teammate Damar Hamlin lay lifeless on the field, suffering from cardiac arrest.

Hamlin was still in critical condition but he is showing signs of improving. Still, it will be a long road to recovery.

The Bills will have to focus on Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots. I think Buffalo will use this game as motivation for their fallen teammate.

The game is in Buffalo, which only intensifies the drama. Look for the Bills to dedicate this game to Hamlin and win in a rout. If they do they could lock up the No. 1 seed in the AFC East.

Prediction: Bills -7.5 over Patriots (-110 at Caesars)

Watch: Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, CBS, FuboTV

Miami Clinches Wild Card

The Miami Dolphins have the easiest path to the final playoff spot in the AFC East. If the Dolphins can defeat the New York Jets at home and the Patriots lose to Buffalo, Miami is in the playoffs.

The Jets are out of the playoffs and basically playing as a preview for next year. How motivated they will be to win on the road as a one-point underdog is unclear.

I think the Jets would rather be playing golf than football. Take the team that is more motivated, especially when you only have to lay a point.

Prediction: Dolphins -1 over Jets (-110 at Unibet)

Philadelphia Too Big a Favorite Against Giants

I like Gardner Minshew as much as the next guy but I don’t think he can lead the Philadelphia Eagles to a 14-point victory over the New York Giants.

I realize the line is set with the expectation that starter Jalen Hurts will be returning. But what if is doesn’t? And will he be rusty if he does come back? I think the Eagles will win this game. I just don’t think it will be by 14 points.

Prediction: Giants +14 over Eagles (-110 at Tipico)

Watch: Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, FOX, FuboTV

San Francisco Rolls Over Arizona

I know last week I said the San Francisco 49ers would clobber the Las Vegas Raiders. How was I to know that Raiders backup Jarrett Stidham would play like the second coming of Daryle Lamonica?

Well the 49ers get the Arizona Cardinals this week and I don’t see either Colt McCoy, Trace McSorley, or David Blough putting on a similar performance.

Besides Cardinals running back James Connor is questionable with a shin injury and if he doesn’t play, this will definitely be a rout.

Prediction: 49ers -14 over Cardinals (-110 at BetMGM)

Watch: Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET, FOX, FuboTV
