While there are hundreds of Super Bowl bets available, , I’m going to look at just two with this week’s 5 Bets. The first is who I think will win the game on Sunday, and the other will be a fairly exotic prop bet that I have been eyeing.
NASCAR had its first official event of the season last week and it’s time to look at who’s going to win the NASCAR Cup Series. Last year it was Joey Logano, but I don’t think he’ll repeat. I have another veteran driver in mind.
UFC 284 is Saturday in Perth, Australia. The card is a decent one and I like a fighter who could pull off the upset.
The final wager will be on the PGA Tour and its stop in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Phoenix Open is really a party disguised as a golf tournament. It takes a certain mindset to thrive at this unique event and I think this golfer has what it takes.
5 Bets to Make this Week
- Kansas City Chiefs +107 over Philadelphia Eagles
- Isiah Pacheco +180 anytime TD scorer
- Denny Hamlin +800 to win NASCAR Cup Series
- Alex Volkanovski +330 to defeat Islam Makhachev
- Collin Morikawa +1600 to win Phoenix Open
Kansas City Squeaks by Philadelphia
The Kansas City Chiefs opened as a -1.5-point favorite over the Philadelphia Eagles but concerns about quarterback Patrick Mahomes ankle sprain sent the line flipping to 1.5 in Philly’s favor.
That could be a mistake and a boon to anyone backing the Chiefs. Mahomes’ ankle is fine according to reports and with the weapons Kansas City has, as well as a big advantage in coaching, should give them the edge over Philadelphia.
The moneyline is +107 at BetRivers for the Chiefs. It is the best odds for Kansas City and a much better play than taking the 1.5 points at -110. Watch KC win a tight one in what should be one of the better Super Bowls in recent memory.
Prediction: Chiefs over Eagles ML (+107 at BetRivers)

Pacheco Finds End Zone
Kansas City running back Isiah Pacheco has been a wonderful story this year. The seventh-round pick has been the feel-good story and that should continue on Sunday.
Pacheco has averaged 6.6 yards per carry in the playoffs and with the run defense a weakness for Philadelphia, Pacheco may thrive in this game. We believe he will score a touchdown and at +180 odds at BetMGM we like getting nearly double our money.
Prediction: Isiah Pacheco anytime TD (+180 at BetMGM)

Hamlin Bounces Back to Win Cup
Last season was one of Denny Hamlin’s worst in his career. Hamlin had just two wins in 2022, where he had seven in 2020.
This year, however, he is now the main man for Joe Gibbs Racing with Kyle Busch leaving. Hamlin should embrace the extra pressure and use it as motivation for the season and take a run at winning the Cup Series.
I see him in the final four when they have the last race. Besides at +800 odds for Hamlin, it’s a great value bet.
Prediction: Hamlin to win Cup Series (+800 at Unibet)
New customers at Unibet receive a special offer worth up to $200. Join the sportsbook and they will match you first cash bet up to $50 four times for a total of $200 in free bets.
Volkanovski pulls off Upset in UFC 284
UFC 284 is at Perth, Australia on Saturday and two of the sport’s best pound-for-pound fighters will face each other.
Alex Volkanovski comes into this match against Islam Makhachev as the underdog. Part of the reason is that he moved up to middleweight from featherweight and bettors aren’t sure he can handle the increased weight.
That shouldn’t be an issue. The biggest intangible will be Volkanovski’s footwork and striking. They are better than Makhachev’s and if he can lean on those skills, he could be the new champ.
Prediction: Volkanovski over Makhachev (+330 at Caesars)

Morikawa Tames Phoenix Open
The Phoenix Open is a unique golf tournament to say the least. The raucous crowds can easily rattle golfers with rabbit ears.
I don’t think the party atmosphere will bother Collin Morikawa. At 26, Morikawa could be confused as one of the revelers and he should thrive in this tournament that is loaded.
That’s another advantage. The two tournaments he entered were packed with top-tier talent and nearly won both of them. He finished second at the Tournament of Champions and third at the Farmers Insurance Open.
This could be the week he gets his first win of 2023 and at +1600 I am all too willing to take a chance on him.
Prediction: Morikawa to win Phoenix Open (+1600 at bet365)
