While lots of people like to bet on who will win the division or World Series and get pretty good odds, it’s the win totals that get most bettors interested. If you bet the Over, you’re rooting every day for your team to win, but if you bet the Under, a long winning streak can really sting. Nonetheless, it’s a fun bet and keeps your attention throughout the season.
This year is different from most years, however. One team has a record-high win total, more than any victories that has been predicted during the 21st century. And that team is easy to figure out because they have been the most active in the off-season, after just clinching their first full-season championship since 1988, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Even though the Dodgers dominated each round of the playoffs, dispatching the powerful New York Yankees in five games in the World Series, the Dodgers didn’t rest on their laurels. In the off-season the team signed the most sought-after young Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki and two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell, to go along with existing pitchers, Yoshi Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Bobby Miller, and later in the year, the incomparable Shohei Otani and the future Hall-of-Famer Clayton Kershaw, not to mention a stellar lineup of bullpen pitchers. They signed outfielder Michael Conforto and resigned Teoscar Hernandez, Kike Hernandez, and Tommy Edman.
At BetMGM, they set the Over/Under for the Dodgers 2025 wins at 104.5, meaning the Dodgers have to win 105 games for Over bettors to cash. And you’re giving -120 on that bet as well. That’s a big number. But don’t forget, it was only four years ago that the Dodgers won 106 games, with a much weaker lineup, and in fact losing the division that year to the Giants who won 107 games.
The most amazing issue about this year’s win totals is that the Dodgers total is more than 10 games better than any other team. And the disparity doesn’t end there. For a 162-game season, 81 wins is break even, a .500 winning percentage. Only 11 teams out of 30 are predicted to fall under that total.

Here are three bets, besides the Dodgers over, that we think may cash in 2025.
Orioles 89.5, -115 Under
When the Angelos family sold the team two years ago, it was assumed that the new owners wouldn’t take the “cheap” route and would regularly restock the team as an annual contender. Well, the Orioles lost some big time talent this year, with their ace, Corbin Burnes, signing with Arizona. So far, they haven’t replaced him.
They signed former Atlanta Braves pitcher Charlie Morton, but age has a way of catching up with pitchers and Morton is overdue for that challenge at 41 years old. The O’s signed a few middling outfielders and bad news catcher Gary Sanchez. So if the young stars have an off year, the Orioles could become cannon fodder in the powerful American League East.
Diamondbacks 85.5 -105 Over
People seem to forget the Dbacks are just a year removed from playing in the World Series. Last year wasn’t a great one, but it wasn’t terrible either. Rookie of the year in 2023, Corbin Carroll got off to a horrific start but recovered late in the year, and is expected to be the catalyst on a powerful offense.
While the team lost power hitting first baseman Christian Walker, they more than replaced him by signing former Cleveland Indian Josh Naylor. And the Corbin Burnes signing gives them an ace to go along with Zack Gallen, Jordan Montgomery, and Merrill Kelly.
And while the Dbacks are in the same division as the powerful Dodgers, the Giants, and Rockies are already also-rans so Arizona should have a great season.

Reds, 78.5 -110 Over
The Cincinnati Reds had a bad season in 2024, only recording 77 wins, despite having some of the most exciting players in baseball, starting with Elly De La Cruz. Their young pitching staff is anchored by Hunter Greene, and has the ability to surprise.
Off-season moves included a trade for the former Dodger Gavin Lux, who will play shortstop or second base. Matt McLain will move to the alternate position. Luis Trevino was acquired from the Yankees to anchor that pitching staff. Some of the moves made will bolster a defense that was one of the worst in the league. So it doesn’t seem to be a stretch to see the Reds add a couple of wins to clinch the Over.
