June 28 was a big day for Atlantic City as two new casinos—the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City and the Ocean Resort Casino—opened their doors on the city’s Boardwalk. It was a star-studded affair, complete with guitar smashing ceremonies, celebrity appearances and a whole lot of music.
But while there hasn’t been as much celebration and fanfare, it turns out it was also a big day for online gambling in New Jersey as both casinos are launching their own online casino sites.
HardRockCasino.com is the first to get through beta testing, and its site is now up and running.
Promotionally, they’re starting by offering up large batches of free spins on the site’s slots. Just by signing up, you’re entered into a prize draw that could net you 10 free spins a day for a year. You can choose to go for the spins or for a $5,000 bonus spin drawing with a $1,250 bonus top prize.
You also get 50 free spins when you sign up automatically, and the site will reward you with 20 more free spins if you send them a screenshot of your player status at other New Jersey sites. The spins come on select slots from NetEnt.
And, lest we forget, Hard Rock is offering a 100 percent first deposit match up to $1,000.
For a new site—Hard Rock‘s first foray into online gambling—there’s not a bad selection of online slots—148 to start—though it could take a while for the site to get into the hundreds of titles offered on the leading sites in the state.
For table games, there are just two roulette games and blackjack to start, along with five video poker variations. They’ve also picked up a couple of instant win games such as Wheel of Fortune and The Voice. These games offer a fun twist on slots by incorporating elements of the TV shows.
The site’s rewards system is based on “rock coins,” which players earn through playing and also by making deposits, which is kind of unique to the site.
As for Ocean Resort, the site has yet to launch, but will be powered by gaming platform GAN when it goes online. Beta testing could come quick in the always-moving New Jersey market so check out OceanOnlineCasino.com regularly to see when the site goes live.
The two new additions mean that there are now 27 different sites—between casino games sites, poker sites and bingo sites—now operating in New Jersey.
Hey, the more the merrier.
