It’s six weeks into the college football season, and some teams (BIG-10, PAC-12, etc.) have yet to kick off. But we’ve already seen a ton of great football in this young season. There are more exciting matchups ahead, including the big game between Georgia and Alabama, so let’s take a look at some of the best bets available for Week 7 (*).
#8 Cincinnati vs. Tulsa (CIN -3)
10/17 @ 12 p.m. – ESPN2
The Tulsa Golden Hurricanes will spend their third straight game facing a Top 11 team as the #8 Cincinnati Bearcats roll into town Saturday. This spread sits at three points due to Tulsa’s most recent win over #11 UCF, but this seems to be a bit of a fluke. Cincinnati has a point differential of +23.4 so far, while Tulsa’s is -0.5. Cincy is also posting a +89.3 yard differential per game, while Tulsa is at -12.0.
No need to complicate this one, the better team will win and cover.

#15 Auburn vs. South Carolina (AUB -3.5)
10/17 @ 12 p.m. ET – ESPN
This SEC matchup should be a fun one for offense. Auburn Tigers QB Bo Nix is one of the best in the country, and the only reason his team is no longer unbeaten is because they ran into a seemingly unstoppable force in the Georgia Bulldogs in their second game. The South Carolina Gamecocks have also fallen to a pair of ranked opponents, and could do so for a third time this weekend. South Carolina’s defense is porous, and Nix and Co. should have a lot of fun with them.
They shouldn’t have a problem covering this spread.

LSU vs. #10 Florida (UF -13.5)
10/17 @ 3:30 p.m. ET – ESPN
Without a doubt, this classic SEC matchup will be one of the most talked-about all week. The Florida Gators’ Kyle duo (QB Kyle Trask and TE Kyle Pitts) is the most lethal in all of the nation, and they’ll host defending champ Coach Ed Orgeron and the LSU Tigers this week. LSU quite simply lost a majority of the team’s national title squad, and have shown it so far this year. Florida, on the other hand, is looking up behind the aforementioned nationally touted stars. With two sides trending in opposite directions, this one should be another pretty easy call.
Expect Florida to win by the two touchdowns and maybe even a third!
Boston College vs. #23 Virginia Tech (BC +11)
10/17 @ 8 p.m. ET – ACCN
Any time a pass heavy offense (Boston College) meets a run heavy offense (Virginia Tech), it could easily become a toss-up. Whichever team dictates the pace and style of play has a tremendous chance to win the game. I worry about Virginia Tech falling behind early and not being able to climb back in due to a heavy reliance on their ground attack. And Boston College is very capable of taking an early lead due to their big play ability in the air. Eleven points is very generous for a team that is a touchdown away from a top-15 victory and an unbeaten record. Give me BC with the 11.

#3 Georgia vs. #2 Alabama (UGA +6)
10/17 @ 8 p.m. ET hurric– CBS
Finally we have the game of the week, and so far, the entire regular season. The hottest team in the country (the Georgia Bulldogs) will meet the perennial powerhouse (Alabama’s Crimson Tide) in what should be an instant classic. Both teams are averaging a 20+ point margin of victory, but in slightly different fashion. Alabama is scoring 51 a game while allowing 30. as opposed to Georgia’s average of 36-12. In such a tight affair, I expect defense to play a premium, which will feed right into Georgia’s preferred style of play. While they might not win outright, Georgia should keep this one within a field goal or so.
