Top Player Prop Bets for Raiders and Chargers TNF AFC West Battle

The Las Vegas Raiders are hosting the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday Night Football in a game that has no playoff implications but plenty of tempting prop bets.

Two AFC West rivals that probably aren’t going to the playoffs are battling it out in Las Vegas on Thursday Night Football. The Los Angeles Chargers will travel to face the Las Vegas Raiders.

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Game day and time: Thursday, December 14, 2023, 8:15 p.m. ET

TV Channel: Amazon Prime or fuboTV

Stadium: Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, Nevada

Spread Favorite: Raiders -2.5 (-115), Chargers +2.5 (-105)

Moneyline: Raiders (-145), Chargers (+120)

Total: Over 34.5 (-110), Under 34.5 (-110)

The Chargers, who were -115 to make the playoffs before the season began, are 5-8 in what has been a surprisingly disappointing season. The Raiders, who are also 5-8, weren’t expected to make the postseason. Their odds to make the playoffs were +325.

Las Vegas got shutout last week, and scoring has been an issue. They have failed to score 20 or more points in their last four games.

The staff at BetQL.com has some thoughts, however, on some player prop bets that might be more entertaining than this clunker.

O’Connell Goes Over on Passing Yards

Raiders QB Aidan O’Connell’s total for passing yards is 203.5 and the Over should be easily attainable. Week after week, I’ve been targeting quarterbacks against this Chargers defense because LA has allowed an NFL-high 285.0 passing yards per game. With Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers and even Hunter Renfrow as weapons, the Raiders could adopt a more pass-heavy game plan with Josh Jacobs (knee) questionable.

I’ll keep betting this for the rest of the year. BetQL is projecting O’Connell to soar over this number at 230 passing yards and I’m right in line with that general output. This could also be an opportunity to attack an alternate line, but I wouldn’t get too crazy – Dan Karpuc.

O’Connell has hit this over in four of his seven games this season and I see him going over this total once again up against the Chargers. He had 271 and 248 passing yards in two of his last three games, and the Chargers are allowing the fourth-most passing yards per game. I see this as a great spot for O’Connell to hit the Over on this relatively low total – Lucy Burdge.

Ekeler Finds the End Zone

Chargers RB Austin Ekeler is at +170 to score an anytime touchdown. When’s the last time you saw an Ekeler TD at this price? Sure, this will be a low-scoring slap-fight, but no one has a better chance to score a touchdown here, whether running or catching, than Ekeler. I’ll take a chance at these odds – Brad Pinkerton.
