The main intrigue of every college football season is the race for each of the Power 5 conference titles. Those conferences, SEC, Big 10, Pac 12, Big 12, and ACC are the powerhouses of college football.
It’s almost a guarantee that at least three, and possibly four, of these conference winners will appear in the College Football Playoff. With ramifications like that, each conference race is sure to be full of fireworks down the stretch. Here are predictions for each Power 5 conference’s winner for this upcoming season.
It should be another very exciting college football season and the fun always revolves around strong competition in the Power 5 conferences. If these predictions hold up, we could be looking at a Clemson-Ohio State-USC-Alabama playoff field this season. Make sure to get those futures bets in nice and early while the odds are still valuable.
Clemson Should Once Again Dominate ACC
After winning six consecutive ACC titles, the Clemson Tigers failed to qualify for the title game in 2021 and lost its streak. Last season the Tigers bounced back in a big way, going 8-0 in conference play and qualifying for the ACC title game once again.
Odds to Win ACC
- Clemson Tigers +160
- Florida State Seminoles +170
- North Carolina Tar Heels +650
- Louisville Cardinals +750
- NC State Wolf Pack +1400
- Miami Hurricanes +1600

Once in the ACC title game, coach Dabo Swinney benched starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei for freshman Cade Klubnik. The freshman led the Tigers to another ACC championship but this decision caused Uiagalelei to transfer out after the season and solidified Klubnik as the starting QB moving forward.
The now-sophomore will lead a Clemson team that is starting to look much more like the teams of the late 2010s than those of the past couple seasons. Expect the Tigers to make a run at the CFP this season.

Texas Starters Return for Big 12 Push
The Texas Longhorns will be without running back Bijan Robinson this season He now plays on Sundays in Atlanta. The consolation prize here is that the team will be running out nearly all of their returning players.
Odds to Win Big 12
- Texas Longhorns +120
- Oklahoma Sooners +325
- Kansas State Wildcats +500
- Texas Tech Red Raiders +900
- TCU Horned Frogs +1200

That experience should bode well for a team that ranked top-30 in both points for and against last season. Quarterback Quinn Ewers will lead this team again this season after a very strong freshman season. The teams in conference ahead of the Longhorns a year ago took some steps back while Texas seems ready to take a step forward. This could be the year for Texas to win its first Big 12 title since 2009.
Expect Dogfight with Ohio State, Michigan
The Big 10 has truly turned into the Ohio State Buckeyes’ conference to lose on a yearly basis. That being said, Michigan has shocked the Buckeyes the past two seasons by winning the Big 10 title both years.
Odds to Win Big 10
- Ohio State Buckeyes +175
- Michigan Wolverines +180
- Penn State Nittany Lions +575
- Wisconsin Badgers +900
- Iowa Hawkeyes +1000

This season’s conference title is expected to be no different, another two-horse race between these rival schools.
The chip on Ohio State’s shoulder this season, however, should be huge and the team is loaded with returners. Ohio State doesn’t stay down for long, and this should be their year to return to the top of the Big 10.

USC Seeks to Complete Unfinished Business
The USC Trojans found themselves in a tremendous spot at the end of last season. Ranked No. 4 in the nation, the team just needed to win the Pac-12 title game to qualify for the College Football Playoff.
Odds to Win Pac-12
- USC Trojans +170
- Oregon Ducks +300
- Washington Huskies +400
- Utah Utes +550
- Oregon State Beavers +1100

Instead, the Utah Utes smacked USC around en route to its second consecutive Pac-12 title. QB Caleb Williams will undoubtedly have vengeance on his mind as he enters this season as quite possibly the best player in the country. He will be working with a largely new squad this season, but an extremely talented one as well.
This USC team is very athletic and deep, so the sky is the limit for what they can accomplish this year. The program’s first conference title since 2017 would be a good start.
Can Alabama Topple Georgia?
Nick Saban and company simply cannot be happy watching SEC conference rival Georgia Bulldogs win each of the past two national championship games. Georgia actually beat the Alabama Crimson Tide in the national title game in 2021, and in 2022 the ‘Dawgs’ won the SEC title and national title.
Odds to Win SEC
- Georgia Bulldogs -114
- Alabama Crimson Tide +240
- LSU Tigers +480
- Texas A&M Aggies +1400
- Tennessee Volunteers +2000

Heading into this season both rosters are facing tons of turnover, as both programs are accustomed to. That being said both teams are expected to start mostly returners, and will have comparable rosters. The difference-maker could be Alabama QB Jalen Milroe, who has game-changing potential. Any slight edge could be enough for one team to surpass the other, and the quarterback position might be a legitimate enough one for the Crimson Tide for them to get the job done in the SEC this year.
