Online Poker Sites Host Big Events, Leaderboards and More in October

New Jersey’s online poker sites have a lot going on over the next month, including big events, leaderboard promotions and more. Here’s an overview of what’s coming up.

New Jersey’s online poker scene continues to gain momentum as three main competitors duke it out for the state’s online poker players. The key to the market is expected to be online player sharing with other jurisdictions, but so far that’s been limited to WSOP.com’s player sharing with Nevada and Delaware.

In the meantime, however, the state’s poker sites are counting on major tournament events and leaderboard promotions to keep grabbing the interest of players. Here’s a look at some events coming up.

PokerStars

PokerStars NJ is holding its New Jersey Championship of Online Poker September 29 to October 15. The championship includes 47 events and $1.5 million in total prize pool guarantees.

That includes a wide variety of game choices ending with a $500 No Limit Hold’em Main Event with a $150,000 guarantee. This year’s tournament event may set a New Jersey record for guarantees with at least 14 tournaments with guarantees over $20,000

PokerStars does not have a player sharing agreement, but clearly is hoping to attract players to the state to participate. Remember, you don’t have to be a New Jersey resident to play, just physically located in the state while signed in.

Plus, PokerStars has additional offers and satellites for tournaments including the Main Event. Check out the full schedule at PokerStars NJ.com.

WSOP.com

Meanwhile, WSOP.com is finishing up its first ever Online WSOP Circuit event with tournaments running through September 30.

Every month, however, WSOP.com rewards online tournament players with its Sit & Go Leaderboards. This is a weekly leaderboard for Sit & Go Tournaments that hands out $1,000 in bonus money to the top 15 finishers on the leaderboard. Top spot gets $250.

To play for your spot at the top, just finish in the top 50 percent of any qualifying Sit & Go tournament. The better you perform, the better your chance of taking home a bonus.

Borgata Poker

BorgataPoker.com has no big events scheduled for October, but offers a monthly leaderboard for online play. Every online tournament entry you make will earn leaderboard points with bonus points awarded based on cash place finished, tournament buy-in amount and total number of tournament entries.

The top 100 places win a share of over $11,000 in prizes with top winners also getting free entries into Borgata’s regular Sunday $40,000 guaranteed tournament.

On July 31, 2015, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit crowned a champion who shattered a major glass ceiling in professional poker! Playing at Harrah's Cherokee, poker pro Loni Harwood put on an absolute clinic to win the WSOP National Championship, taking home a massive first-place prize of $341,599 and her second career gold bracelet. With that historic victory, Harwood became only the second woman ever to win a WSOP Circuit National Championship event, proving once again that gender means absolutely nothing when it comes to outsmarting, outplaying, and out-bluffing the competition at a major final table.
