BetMGM Casino Player Wins Largest Jackpot in U.S. Online Casino History

$6.5 million record-setting jackpot won in New Jersey on the Fruit Blaster game. Big wins happen in all sorts of casinos—online and real life.

BetMGM announced last week that a player won a $6,450,023 progressive jackpot. It is the largest jackpot in the history of the legalized online casino industry in the United States.

On the morning of August 19, a player on BetMGM Casino in New Jersey won “The Big Oneprogressive jackpot for $6.5 million on a $200 bet while playing Fruit Blaster.

“BetMGM and one lucky player made iGaming history,” said Adam Greenblatt, chief executive officer, BetMGM. “It’s been a summer filled with anticipation watching the progressive jackpot grow quickly to record levels. This win is the latest proof that BetMGM Casino is the premier destination for progressive jackpots and unforgettable experiences.”

The progressive jackpot reached an operator record of $4 million in late February and grew throughout the spring on “The Big One,” BetMGM’s progressive jackpot pool of exclusive in-house produced games by Entain. Players could win the progressive jackpot by playing online in New Jersey at BetMGM, Borgata, Wheel of Fortune Casino and Party Casino.

Developed in-house by Entain, Fruit Blaster is a five-reel slot with “The Big One” jackpot slot game. Wins are based on a combination of the various symbols such as oranges, cherries, lemons and plums that are displayed on the selected winning payline or paylines.

“BetMGM congratulates the winner on this historic jackpot,” said Angus Nisbet, vice president of gaming, BetMGM. “It’s these ‘you never know when’ moments that make progressive jackpots especially thrilling. In addition to the jackpot, we hope the player enjoys their trip to an MGM Resort in the near future.”

BetMGM features a jackpot program that offers a luxurious trip to an MGM Resorts International property in Las Vegas or the nearest location to the winner’s home for anyone who wins a jackpot exceeding $500,000. This initiative aims to enhance the excitement of winning a jackpot, provide winners with memorable experiences and showcases BetMGM’s relationship with MGM Resorts International.

After the record-setting win, “The Big One” progressive jackpot at BetMGM in New Jersey has been reset. As of August 20, it is currently at $1.2 million.

BetMGM casino platforms awarded over $138 million in progressive jackpot payouts in 2023, a 32% year-over-year increase. Exclusive titles created by Entain for BetMGM, such as Bison Fury and MGM Grand Million Megaways, were the source of more than half of the prize total.
