Baltimore-based Cordish Companies, owner of the Live! Hotel & Casino under construction in Philadelphia, has become the 10th casino licensee in Pennsylvania to apply for a sports betting license. The Live! property, expected to open in December 2020, will offer both retail and online sports books.
The property also will offer sports betting at its satellite mini-casino, under construction in a former department store at the Westmoreland Mall in Western Pennsylvania.
On September 21, 1992, Bill Brennan, a 34-year-old sportsbook cashier at the iconic Stardust Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, walked out of the casino during his lunch break carrying $500,000 in cash and chips inside a leather bag. He walked past security without drawing attention and vanished without a trace, making it one of the most famous unsolved casino robberies in Las Vegas history.
