Off to See the Wizard with BetMGM Exclusive Slots

The Wizard of Oz slot game returns to the home of the classic film with an exclusive online deal with BetMGM. Sign up and play in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Ontario.

Light & Wonder’s (L&W) Wizard of Oz slot series is officially online, thanks to a deal made by the slot supplier and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences to launch the game family exclusively at the BetMGM and Borgata casino sites.

Based on the classic 1939 MGM musical, The Wizard of Oz has been one of the biggest hit game franchises for L&W and its legacy companies Scientific Games and WMS over the years. At the beginning of this month, MGM Resorts International announced the exclusive deal to present games in the series on its two iGaming sites.

Over the Rainbow

The first title in the online series, The Wizard of Oz Over the Rainbow, is now available to players in New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Ontario. It is a five-reel, 45-line game featuring beloved characters from the classic film including Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, The Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, the Good Witch.

It is a visually beautiful game. Behind the reel array is the famous poppy field from the film, with the Emerald City in the background. The environment is even more immersive through the soft sounds of twinkling stars and lightly falling snow.

Glinda the Good Witch

The game includes several immersive bonus features based on the film. Glinda the Good Witch appears in a random bonus featured in all the casino versions of the game franchise. Glinda will fly into the frame in the familiar bubble as she does in the film, and float to the reels to randomly turn symbols wild.

Additionally, Glinda the Good Witch could also activate any of the special powers tied to the other characters from the movie.

There are two ways that those powers can become active—they can be randomly triggered by Glinda, or if three characters appear on the reels, they trigger a free-spin bonus combining an enhancement represented by each character.

For the Tin Man, each Heart symbol that is on the screen will be converted into winnings. Scarecrow could also appear in the same way but will add between two and eight wild symbols on the screen everywhere except for the wild reels taken over by Glinda the Good Witch. Having Scarecrow combined with Glinda provides the player with more access to hitting more paylines.

Lion and Scarecrow goes Wild

When Cowardly Lion pops up, the number of rows increases to six, which creates another 45 possible paylines. Additionally, if Cowardly Lion appears with Scarecrow, the number of possible wild symbols is increased to 12. Lastly, if the Wicked Witch of the West is triggered, all paylines for each spin will be multiplied by a random multiplier between 2X and 10X.

Balloon Jackpots, Respins, and Free Spins have the potential to win up to 1,000 times their bet through the Over the Rainbow Jackpot feature.

The return-to-player percentage—the percentage of all wagers returned to players as wins—is 96.2 percent.

New Games, New Promos

This exclusive launch is just the beginning, as Light & Wonder plans to release additional titles in The Wizard of Oz slot series exclusively to BetMGM and Borgata throughout 2025 and 2026. Both the BetMGM and Borgata sites ran a promotion connected to the Over the Rainbow game, in which players earned up to $25 in bonus cash each day they played the game. That promo ended Friday, March 14, but players can expect new promotions connected to each new version of the game that is released to the MGM sites going forward.

Before you start playing any game at BetMGM online, be sure to check the Promotions page on your account homepage to see if any current offers apply.
