Philippines Cracks Down on Unlicensed iGaming

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR) announced it is in the middle of a crackdown on unlicensed online gaming firms operating in the country and sites violating the agency’s Offshore Gaming Regulatory Manual. The regulator said it is working in cooperation with law enforcement and investigations and raids are currently underway. The agency said more than 170 raids have been conducted.

THE Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp has conducted more than 170 raids since January as it confirmed an ongoing crackdown on unlicensed online gaming firms operating in the country and sites violating the agency’s Offshore Gaming Regulatory Manual.

The regulator said it is working in cooperation with law enforcement and investigations and raids are currently underway. Those found guilty operating without a gaming license will either face charges in court or be deported.

“Word of advice, therefore, legalize your operations or face dire consequences,” PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Andrea D. Domingo said in a press statement

PAGCOR said it entered into a “mutual cooperation” agreement with the National Bureau of Investigation, the Philippine National Police and the Bureau of Immigration for the drive against illegal online gambling.

PAGCOR also said it is also regularly monitoring and auditing the operation of Philippine Online Gaming Operation licensees to ensure they that they are properly paying government taxes and that they adhere to all municipal, national and labor laws.
