WSOP.com has some exciting tournament action in April with its Spring Online Championships. The event includes 48 different tournaments running March 31 to April 14.
WSOP.com has put up $1.3 million in prize pool guarantees for the tournaments, which run the gamut of online play including No Limit Hold’em, turbo tournaments and Deepstack events.
Look for a variety of other tournaments, including:
- Freezeout events: No re-buy; you get one stack to take your shot.
- Knockout events: Each player has a small bounty. Every time you knock out another player, you win their bounty.
- Eight- and six-max tournaments: Limits the number of players at a table to eight or six.
Most buy-ins for the Spring Championships range from $20 to $100, but there are several high-roller tournaments planned with buy-ins from $100 up. The biggest of these is Event 30 on April 9. This six-max, re-entry tournament has a buy-in of $1,000 and an $85,000 prize pool guarantee.
The Main Event for the Spring Championships will be played April 14 and carries a $525 buy-in. It’s a big buy-in, but the championship tournament has a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool, a pretty impressive guarantee for an online tournament. Along with the money, the winner takes home a WSOP championship belt.

Also coming from WSOP.com is this year’s World Series of Poker, scheduled for May 28 to July 16 in Las Vegas.
Online satellites for WSOP events are already underway with tournaments scheduled daily, including on Sundays. The satellites include chances to win buy-in chips for WSOP events from a $600 to $1,000 WSOP event, the Big 50 WSOP event and the $10,000 Main Event.
The Big 50 is the opening event of the WSOP and guarantees $1 million for the winner. Satellites for the event start at $10.
Satellites for the Main Event start at a $215 buy-in. The Main Event, of course, carries a $10,000 buy-in, so that’s what you’re playing for: a $10,000 seat.
So, maybe the Main Event isn’t out of reach after all.
