WSOP.com opens satellite tournaments for Super Colossus, other events

Satellites for the Main Event haven’t started, but WSOP.Com is offering several satellites this month for other WSOP events in 2018. They include the Super Colossus, a $565 buy-in event. Last year’s winner took home $1 million, the guaranteed top prize for the event.

Every poker player—and casual poker fan—has heard the story of Chris Moneymaker. The guy with the perfect name won the 2003 Main Event of the World Series of Poker as a virtual unknown after qualifying for the tournament through an $86 online satellite tournament—as opposed to paying the standard $10,000 buy-in.

He eventually won $2.5 million.

Of course, online play has changed a lot since 2003, but thanks to WSOP.com in Nevada and New Jersey, you can still win a $10,000 seat to the Main Event and other WSOP events through online satellites. The 2017 Main Event winner made $8.1 million.

Satellites for the Main Event have yet to start, but WSOP.com has started satellites this month for some other WSOP events in 2018. They include the Super Colossus, a $565 buy-in event. Last year’s winner took home $1 million, the guaranteed top prize for the event.

You can also win a weekend package for the WSOP’s opening events which includes travel expenses and entry into the WSOP’s online events in Nevada and the Colossus. There’s also a satellite for $1,000 in buy-in chips for all WSOP events.

Best of all, there’s a daily $1 satellite to win a seat at other satellites. Considering that the WSOP awarded more than $231 million in 2017, it’s got to be worth a buck to take a shot at getting there.

The World Series of Poker will be held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas May 29 to July 17. Where will you be?
