$138 Million Progressive Payouts to Slot Players at BetMGM and Borgata Sites

BetMGM Resorts International reports $138.2 million in progressive payouts last year at its two online sites, BetMGM.com and BorgataCasino.com.

The iGaming sites run by MGM Resorts International, BetMGM.com and sister site BorgataCasino.com, are known for a bevy of ongoing promotions. They are also among the most generous in returns to the player—especially in the form of progressives.

Last week, BetMGM.com announced that the site awarded $138.2 million in progressive jackpot payouts to online casino players in 2023. That’s a 32% increase over 2022.

MGM Grand Millions, Bison Fury and other slot titles created by Entain for BetMGM and available exclusively at BetMGM’s online casino were the source of more than half of the prize total. In Michigan and Pennsylvania, the 10 largest jackpots all were won on in-house-produced games.

“BetMGM loves creating memorable iGaming experiences for players, and few things surpass the thrill of winning a jackpot,” said BetMGM Vice President of Gaming Angus Nisbet. “The performance of our exclusive, in-house-produced games shows these titles are resonating with players. It solidifies BetMGM as the destination for progressive jackpots.”

BetMGM awarded the largest amount of jackpot prize money in Michigan ($53.2 million). That was followed by New Jersey ($38.8 million) and Pennsylvania ($34.6 million). Ontario ($6.1 million) and West Virginia ($5.4 million) rounded out the total distributions.

The top five 2023 jackpots won at BetMGM include:

$3 million/Bison Fury/New Jersey

$2.8 million/MGM Grand Millions/New Jersey

$2.4 million/Luck O’ The Jackpot/New Jersey

$1.3 million/MGM Grand Millions/Michigan

$1.1 million/MGM Grand Millions/Michigan

“BetMGM’s library of games is highlighted by our progressive jackpots, a compelling mix of titles created by Entain and that we source from the industry’s top vendors,” said Oliver Bartlett, BetMGM vice president of gaming product and content. “Jackpots will remain a key focus of our overall strategy in 2024 and beyond.”

In October 2023, a New Jersey player won the second-largest BetMGM jackpot of all time by winning a $3 million jackpot on a $2 bet on Bison Fury at Borgata Online. The player, who chose to remain anonymous, listed Las Vegas as a “bucket list” trip. They were surprised by BetMGM with the ultimate VIP Las Vegas experience.

A $1,000 gift certificate to Tiffany & Co., and tickets to see Bruno Mars at the Dolby Live Theater at Park MGM are also available.

“Las Vegas has always been a destination spot to visit because I see it in the movies,” said the jackpot winner. “It was something I considered, but I never had the opportunity to go. When I won the jackpot, Las Vegas was something I wanted to check off my bucket list. I can’t thank the entire BetMGM team enough for making this trip possible. I am so grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

MGM’s award-winning online casino is home to over 3,600 titles across North American markets. It has one of the largest state-by-state exclusive jackpot networks. BetMGM’s jackpot network currently consists of more than 20 game titles. Some include popular games such as MGM Grand Millions, Bison Fury, Mirage Mega Magma, and Loot’En Khamun and Dead Sea Scrolls.

“As BetMGM continues to expand into new jurisdictions, responsible gaming education remains a key focus,” a company statement said. “BetMGM is proud to provide resources to help customers play responsibly, including an industry-leading program developed and licensed to MGM Resorts by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation. Through the GameSense integration within BetMGM’s mobile and desktop platforms, customers can directly access responsible gaming tools.”
