WSOP.com ‘Show Me’ tournament starting April 15

WSOP.com kicks off its Spring Show Me Tournament Series with buy-ins between $10 and $20 and prize pools from $500 to $4,000. The eight nightly tournaments continue through April 22. The catch? Players must show their hole cards at the end of each hand.

For tournament poker players, one of the most closely guarded secrets at the table is the cards you are holding. That seems obvious: You can’t play a hand if your hole cards have been exposed.

But that secrecy doesn’t just apply to while the hand is being played. Players aren’t required to show their hole cards if no other player calls them. That’s an important point for bluffing. But, have you ever noticed how players won’t even show their hole cards at the end of the hand if they’ve been beaten? They called, you show your cards and they just muck theirs.

After all, showing their cards, even in defeat, gives you information on how they played the hand.

If you have found that to be annoying, then WSOP.com has just the tournament for you. Starting April 15, WSOP in New Jersey and Nevada will present the Spring Show Me Tournament Series. That’s eight nightly tournaments through April 22.

The catch? All players making it to the end of the hand have to show their hole cards. In other words, if you bluff, you better make it good because you will show your cards.

The tournaments are low stakes with prize pool guarantees ranging from $500 to $4,000 with buy-ins from $10 to $20. The $2,500 opener on April 15 and the $4,000 guaranteed closing tournament are particularly good value tournaments.

So, if you hate to see bluffers get away with something, or you want to make your own bluffing more challenging, the WSOP Show Me Series may be just what you are looking for.
