November is a big month for online casino sites in New Jersey as it marks the fourth anniversary of online gaming going live in the state. A lot has happened—and changed—in the four years of online gaming, but for many of the sites that went live in 2013, it’s been a steady climb upward.
One of those original sites, WSOP.com, is celebrating its anniversary this month with promotions and a new tournament event for players.
The tournament is the inaugural New Jersey Poker Classic, which begins November 10. Along with their partnered site 888 Poker, the classic offers up 38 tournament events with $500,000 in guaranteed prize pools.
It’s a pretty impressive lineup as the Classic begins with a $75 buy-in, $6,000 guaranteed Deepstack tournament and culminates with a $5,000 guaranteed Super Turbo event on November 20. Those are pretty healthy guarantees for online poker tournaments in the state, but the real newsmaker is a $100,000 guaranteed Main Event on Sunday, November 19.
That kind of guaranteed prize pool is almost unheard of in the still-fledgling online poker market in the U.S. The event carries a $500 buy-in, reminiscent of main events at live WSOP circuit events held around the country. But, instead of winning a championship bracelet, the Main Event winner at the New Jersey Poker Classic will receive a championship belt valued at $650 (the belt cannot be exchanged for cash at WSOP).
The classic also includes a $65,000 guaranteed event Sunday, November 12 and nine other events with guarantees over $10,000. Check out the full lineup here.
WSOP.com is also celebrating its anniversary by offering a deposit match up to $1,123 and double apps from November 10 to November 20 while the Classic is underway. It’s a 100 percent match, but the bonus dollars are released as you play and earn action player points (Apps). That makes it perfect for players looking to add to their accounts for action at the New Jersey Poker Classic.
The double apps are in play from 11:23 a.m. on November 20 to 11:23 a.m. on November 21.
Of course, WSOP.com has plenty of promotions in place for players looking to play on the regular tournament schedule. WSOP.com is loaded with leaderboard promotions where players compete for top prizes by playing everything from Blast Poker turbos to the site’s Mega Monster leaderboards.
They are also offering a fixed-limit Hot Seat promotion this month, where players playing at regular cash games from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night could split $3,000 in bonus dollars at a randomly selected table. So that’s a bonus just for being online at the right table at the right time.
