BorgataPoker.com, PartyPoker Kick off Garden State Super Series Poker Tournament March 18

The Garden State Super Series online poker tournament is March 18-25 and includes 17 tournaments over eight days. The highlight is the $100,000 guaranteed championship event on March 25 at 5 p.m. The tournament has a $320 buy-in and allows three re-buys.

BorgataPoker.com and PartyPoker are bringing back their popular Garden State Super Series of online poker tournaments March 18 to 25. The Super Series began in 2014 and now offers up a spring and fall edition.

This year’s spring tournament includes 17 tournaments over eight days. The highlight, of course, is the $100,000 guaranteed championship event on March 25 at 5 p.m. The tournament has a $320 buy-in and allows three re-buys.

The two poker sites are also showing some faith in the tournament—which is now also played on PlayMGM’s poker site. They’ve increased the event total from the 2017 Fall Super Series, though the total guarantees are $365,000, down slightly from the fall’s $375,000. The top guarantees, other than the championship, are $60,000 for Event 2 and $50,000 for Event 16 (a high-roller tournament with a $1,016 buy-in).

As an added bonus, Borgata is awarding the top three winners of events No. 1 through No. 13 a $320 entry into the $100,000 guaranteed NLH Championship.

Tournament events have become increasingly competitive in the New Jersey online market as Borgata and PartyPoker face down Pokerstars and WSOP.com events. But this year’s Spring GSS should be just what New Jersey’s online players are looking for.

On May 12, 1976, the Red Sox snapped a 10-game losing streak with a 6-4, 12-inning victory over Cleveland, aided by a "favorable spell" from a Salem witch sent by a Boston TV station. The superstitions continued the following day when Cleveland countered with a "fairy godmother" to sprinkle dust on their players; however, the charms failed as Cleveland committed multiple errors, leading to another Boston win.

On May 11, 1996, a celebration for John Franco at Shea Stadium turned into a 16-minute brawl as the Mets edged the Cubs 7-6. The fight ignited after Mets pitcher Pete Harnisch threw a punch at catcher Scott Servais, leading to nine ejections, including a bloodied Franco. Despite the chaos, the Mets secured the win on a dramatic walk-off home run by Rico Brogna.
