The Borgata Winter Poker Open powered by BetMGM returns in January boasting $5,000,000 in total guarantees. Running from January 2-16, the BWPO features 32 main events, eleven live streams, and a schedule packed with a variety of buy-ins for all types of poker action. Online qualifiers started on December 2 and real-time registration will be available exclusively at BetMGM Poker.

Some main highlights of the Borgata Winter Poker Open powered by BetMGM include:

  • Exclusive Online Qualifiers: BetMGM Poker players in New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania can win seats to the Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship from December 9-January 15. BetMGM Poker will also host nightly seat-only qualifiers for a variety of BWPO events, with buy-ins starting at as little as $2.   • Championship Chase: The BetMGM Championship Chase on January 9 is a live qualifier for the BWPO Championship and will award at least 15 championship seats and additional entries to the BetMGM Bounty Shootout on January 10.
  • BetMGM Big League Live Stream: The BetMGM Big League Live Stream on January 10 will be a live-streamed single-table tournament headlined by the BetMGM partner digital baseball show, Foul Territory. After the show’s hosts and MLB alumni play in the BetMGM Bounty Shootout they will compete against one another live from the Borgata.

December 19, 1948: The Philadelphia Eagles shut out the Chicago Cardinals 7–0 to win the NFL Championship in a blinding snowstorm at Shibe Park. After a player-assisted delay to clear the field, the only score came via a 5-yard run by Steve Van Buren early in the fourth quarter. Coached by Greasy Neale, this also became the first NFL championship game ever televised.

On December 18, 2022, Argentina defeated France in a thrilling penalty shootout (4–2) to win the FIFA World Cup final in Lusail, Qatar. Argentina led 2–0 before France's Kylian Mbappé dramatically scored twice in two minutes to force extra time. After Lionel Messi and Mbappé (completing a hat trick) traded goals, the match ended 3–3. Goalie Emiliano Martínez proved key in the shootout, securing the victory and allowing Messi to finally lift the trophy in his fifth World Cup appearance.
