Isaac Haxton Wins $2.76 Million with Super High Roller Bowl Victory

The Super High Roller Bowl VIII was recently held at the Aria Casino in Las Vegas and Isaac Haxton took the title for the second time.

American pro Isaac Haxton won Super High Roller Bowl VIII at the Aria Casino in Las Vegas September 30. Haxton banked $2.76 million for the victory, which marked the second time he’s won the Super High Roller Bowl (SHRB).

It’s been a sensational year for Haxton, who turned 38 in September. He won just shy of $13 million in live tournaments in 2023 including five separate seven-figure scores. He also secured his first World Series of Poker bracelet after numerous near misses.

The Super High Roller Bowl VIII had a $300,000 buy-in, and it’s one of the marquee events on the PokerGo Tour schedule. This year’s SHRB attracted 20 runners and a prize pool worth $6 million. Only the top four places paid out in this elite high-roller affair.

Stacked Final Table at SHRB VIII

The final six players at Super High Roller Bowl VIII are considered among the premier high-end tournament specialists in the world including a British pro Stephen Chidwick and five Americans with Haxton, Jason Koon, Andrew Lichtenberger, Bryn Kenney, and Chris Brewer.

Kenney (sixth place) and Brewer (fifth place) failed to cash when they were eliminated just before the final four money spots.

Kenney, a pro from New York, sits on top of Hendon Mob’s all-time money list with $64 million in live tournament winnings.

Brewer, a pro from California, has been on fire in 2023 with more than $11.9 million in earnings. He shipped two bracelets at the 2023 WSOP including a $5.3 million score in the $250,000 buy-in Super High Roller NL.

West Virginia’s Koon is currently ranked #4 on all-time money list with $51.8 million in earnings. He busted in fourth place in SHRB VIII, which paid out $600,000.

No one has won more money in British poker history than Chidwick. With $53.7 million in live tournament earnings, Chidwick is currently ranked third on the all-time money list. Chidwick was fresh off a victory in the 2023 Poker Masters at the Aria. He won the coveted purple jacket, which is awarded to the Poker Master champion.

At the SHRB VIII, Chidwick’s run ended in third place which paid out $960,000.

Haxton Defeats Lucky Chewy in Heads-Up Battle

Lichtenberger, a Las Vegas-based pro originally from New York, is known most by his online moniker “Lucky Chewey.” Lichtenberger steamrolled the final table at the SHRB VIII. He picked off four out of the final six players to secure the chip lead heading into a heads-up joust against Haxton.

Haxton and Lichtenberger swapped the lead multiple times during heads-up. Lichtenberger dug himself out of two big deficits to regain the lead before squandering it again to Haxton.

The biggest hand of the tournament occurred when Haxton murked Lichtenberger’s pocket Kings. Haxton got it all-in on the flop with Ace-seven of spades and a nut flush draw. Haxton turned a flush and doubled up. Lichtenberger busted two hands later.

Lichtenberger earned a runner-up payday worth $1,608,000, and Haxton banked $2.7 million for his SHRB VIII victory. He has won over $17.1 million in tournaments during his career. He snagged his first WSOP bracelet in 2016, and won two WSOP Circuit rings in Las Vegas.

Haxton is an Ivy League-educated pro from the New York City suburbs. For the last decade, Haxton had the dubious distinction as the best pro who never won a WSOP bracelet. He finally got that monkey off his back with a victory in the $250,000 buy-in High Roller NL (8-Handed) which paid out close to $1.7 million.

Haxton is the first pro to win multiple titles at the Super High Roller Bowl, and he took down SHRB V back in 2018 for a $3.6 million score.

After his sweet score at the SHRB VIII, Haxton moved into the top ten on the all-time money list with nearly $42.8 in career winnings.
