Be the First to Play: BetMGM Premieres Exclusive Movie and TV Slot Games

BetMGM is launching exclusive slot games base on popular movies and TV—Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Cheers—in legal iGaming jurisdictions.

When the popularity of slot machines peaked in the early 2000s, one prominent characteristic of their booming popularity was the theme—specifically, themes based on popular TV shows, movies and musical stars.

BetMGM, the joint venture of MGM Resorts International and Entain that runs the BetMGM, Borgata Online and PartyCasino online gaming sites, are now repeating that formula on the internet gaming front.

Last week, BetMGM announce the launch of the first of what will be a series of exclusive slot games themed on popular movies and TV shows. Through a partnership with Atlantic Digital, which combines the best film and TV intellectual property with game design, BetMGM is now the exclusive U.S. home of the London-based game studio’s portfolio of proprietary games.

The first two titles are based on some of the best entertainment of the 1990s—the 1994 Jim Carrey comedy film Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and the TV sitcom Cheers, which took viewers inside a fictional Boston bar from 1982 through 1993.

Game On

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Cheers, the slot games, have made their North America debut on BetMGM in Michigan. Both titles will be available in all jurisdictions where the operator’s iGaming platform is live, pending regulatory approvals.

“BetMGM is a destination for the most-recognizable movie and TV shows-turned-slot games,” said Oliver Bartlett, BetMGM president of gaming product and content, in a press statement. “Taking popular movies and TV shows and reimagining them for iGaming is a great way players can experience them in a different and exciting way. Our partnership with Atlantic Digital has added an element of exclusivity and entertainment to our already expansive library of games.”

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is a five-reel, 20-line slot where players join Ace on a wild journey as he tracks down Snowflake the dolphin. The slot game has four fixed jackpots, mini wheel respins, and bonus spins with cash-on-reels and multiplier wilds. Devotees of the pet detective will be delighted to see slot symbols featuring the rubber-faced Ace, a Ray Finkle jersey and a “laces out” football.

Cheerful Winning

In Cheers, players step inside the iconic Boston bar and join Sam, Woody, Frasier, Coach, Diane, Carla, Rebecca and Norm and search for wins that will “make everyone know their name.” The three-reel, 17-line slot game contains re-spins with sticky, nudging wilds, three fixed jackpots and a remarkable nine different bonus games.

Sam Hobcraft, CEO of Atlantic Digital, said, “We are delighted to work with these iconic brands—Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Cheers and BetMGM. We have built two unique games that really show off the brands to their fullest extent, from classic theme tunes to animations showcasing all the characters. It is a pleasure partnering with BetMGM to launch these branded games and add a new dimension to their product offering.”

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Cheers join other Atlantic Digital titles that previously debuted on BetMGM including games themed on The Godfather, Charlie’s Angels and Star Trek: The Next Generation. In 2023, The Godfather was the most popular exclusive game on BetMGM.

Additional movie and TV slot titles are coming soon on BetMGM. Stay tuned.

BetMGM’s online casino is home to over 2,800 titles across North American markets and one of the largest state-by-state exclusive jackpot network. In 2023, BetMGM was named Casino Operator of the Year by SBC North America, EGR North America, Global Gaming Awards, and American Gambling Awards.
